On July 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev, who is in our country at the head of the observer mission of this Organization.
At the beginning of the meeting, the CIS Secretary General sincerely congratulated the head of our state on his convincing victory in the presidential elections of Uzbekistan, wished well-being and success in ensuring sustainable development and prosperity of the country.
It was stressed that the elections were held in full compliance with international electoral standards.
It was particularly noted that the high level of voter turnout and the results of the vote indicate the broad support and confidence of the population in the ongoing reform program.
Issues of deepening mutually beneficial cooperation within the CIS were also discussed.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has signed more than 40 agreements, joined the activities of 24 sectoral bodies of the Commonwealth. On the eve of the first meeting of the Advisory Council of Heads of Election Commissions of the CIS member states was successfully held in Tashkent.
Particular attention was paid to the implementation of programs and projects aimed at expanding multilateral partnership.
