On June 6, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva in Samarkand.
Issues of further development of Uzbekistan's multifaceted cooperation with the International Monetary Fund were discussed, including in such priority areas as reforms to ensure macroeconomic stability, improving monetary and fiscal policy.
It was noted with satisfaction that cooperation with the IMF has noticeably intensified in recent years. More than 70 missions of the Foundation have visited Uzbekistan in recent years, and expert and technical assistance is expanding.
The head of the IMF Kristalina Georgieva expressed full support and readiness to contribute to the continuation of the program of irreversible reforms in the New Uzbekistan.
There was also an exchange of views on topical issues of the global economy and sustainable development.
This was the end of the trip of the President of Uzbekistan to Samarkand, the head of state returned to Tashkent.
