The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of full-scale partnership with the World Bank in promoting the reform program



On June 1, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Antonella Bassani, Vice President of the World Bank for Europe and Central Asia.

The issues of further deepening of Uzbekistan's full-scale strategic cooperation with the World Bank Group in the effective promotion of the program of socio-economic reforms in the New Uzbekistan were considered.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of our state sincerely congratulated Vice President Antonella Bassani on his appointment to a high post and wished great success.

It was noted with satisfaction that great progress has been made in the development of bilateral partnership relations in recent years. Uzbekistan is one of the largest beneficiaries of the Bank – the portfolio of projects has tripled
and now exceeds $ 11 billion. The current Partnership Program until 2026 includes priority projects worth $4 billion.

The World Bank supports the implementation of transformations in the fields of healthcare, education, agriculture, banking, energy, transport, digitalization and other areas.

The preparation of the Country Report on Climate Change and Development is being finalized. With the participation of the Bank, the "Country Platform" was launched – an effective mechanism for coordinating practical interaction with development institutions.

Vice President Antonella Bassani highly appreciated the current level of fruitful cooperation and confirmed the commitment of the World Bank to consistent and comprehensive support of the program of irreversible reforms in our country.

The focus is on projects to combat poverty, modernize rural infrastructure and medium-sized cities, promote the employment of women and youth, reform health and education in accordance with the targets for the period up to 2030.

Particular attention is paid to the introduction of "green" energy, the implementation of land reform, programs for the integrated development of regions and the privatization of state-owned enterprises.

There was also an exchange of views on the promotion of regional infrastructure projects in Central Asia.
