The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of the CIS platform for promoting multifaceted cooperation

On May 1, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Sergey Lebedev, who is in our country at the head of the observer mission for the constitutional referendum.

The Head of our State sincerely thanked the Secretary General and the members of the Commonwealth mission for their active work in all regions of the country, as well as high assessments of the progress and results of the referendum.

In turn, the head of the authoritative regional organization warmly congratulated the leader and the multinational people of Uzbekistan on the successful organization of the popular vote in accordance with high international requirements and standards.

They expressed confidence that the results of the referendum will become an important stage in the construction of a New Uzbekistan and the continuation of democratic transformations in the country.

During the meeting, the importance of the CIS platform for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, primarily in the trade, economic, industrial and transport spheres, was emphasized. The dynamics of investment growth in the Commonwealth was noted, and the fruitful results of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers held in the city of Samarkand in March of this year were highly appreciated.

Special attention is also paid to the further continuation of active humanitarian exchanges.
